The Boat Inn
Traditional pub situated alongside the river Wye.
Originally named Devils half mile when shipping & sailors went hand in hand. Dating back to 1749 the original part of the pub with log burner to sit and enjoy a selection of our real Ales, wines, or a hot drink from the coffeeboat bar.
The larger section of the pub is truly a joy with galleried staircase leading up to the restaurant where you can sit with a fine view of the river.
The river and surrounding area has anything from baby seals often spotted swimming on the incoming tide, to peregrine falcons nesting on the rocks directly opposite the pub, where many a ‘twitcher’ will be filming to catch the next wildlife photograph.
We are open 7 days a week offering up anything from delicious home cooked steak & Ale pie to our finer dining menu on the weekend.
We regularly offer themed dinners with music events to match the occasion. Check our events page or call for information.
Sunday during the winter is traditional Sunday Lunch, with resident pianist creating a delightful atmosphere. Booking is highly recommended to avoid disappointment.
Our situation is ideal for walkers, as we are at the beginning or end of the Offa’s Dyke path. Wye valley and nearby Tintern abbey. Chepstow racecourse. Chepstow castle is a 5 minute walk.
